Yokayo-Logger District

The Yokayo-Logger District includes all of the BSA chartered organizations and units of Mendocino County, including Boonville, Fort Bragg, Hopland, Mendocino, Potter Valley, Redwood Valley, Ukiah, and Willits, as well as four LDS Wards in Lake County (Highlands, Kelseyville, Lakeport and Middletown) and the LDS Ward in Cloverdale.

Fall Scout-O-Rama on Oct. 28 in conjunction with NB Science Discovery Day

The Fall 2017 Scout-O-Rama will be in conjunction with the NB Science Discovery Day, Sat. Oct. 28 at Sonoma Co. Fairgrounds. We invite units to offer Merit Badge/Cub Scout activities relating to science, technology, engineering, math, & related life skills -- "hands-on" Scouting for youth/families visiting this large public event. No charge to units, but each unit sponsors own booth supplies.

2017 Distinguished Citizen Dinner to Honor Rick Call

The annual REC-BSA Distinguished Citizen Dinner brings together community leaders to honor a community volunteer from our council area and raise funds for Scouting. We will honor Rick Call as our 2017 Distinguished Citizen on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa. Click here for more details and to sign up.

2017 Gala and Auction Rescheduled to Saturday, December 16

The Special Events team of the Redwood Empire Council invites you to the 8th Annual Gala and Auction. The Gala is one of our largest fundraisers of the year, and through this event our Council continues to provide valuable support of over 2,000 youth in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. Come join us for a fun evening and help support local Scouting programs!

National BSA Registration Fees Increasing on December 1, 2017

National BSA is increasing basic BSA youth and adult membership fees, effective 12/1/2017, primarily due to need for replenishment of insurance fund and increasing costs of technology support to BSA members. See article for full details.

BSA Announces Unit Position of New Member Coordinator

In May, the BSA announced the new unit committee position of New Member Coordinator (NM). This enhancement of the previous unit committee member for membership role puts emphasis on the importance of having a designated Scouter (besides the unit committee chair and unit leader) who gives special attention to bringing new youth and families into each unit (click here for full article).
