The Regional Parks represent the beauty and diversity of Sonoma County and are a valuable public resource. The park system includes more than 50 parks and trails from Petaluma to Gualala and Sonoma to Bodega Bay. Many offer natural, undeveloped landscapes. Others feature sports fields, playgrounds, campgrounds, swimming beaches and boat launches. Regional Parks also manages ocean marinas and the county's largest environmental education center and hosts special events, guided outings, family activities, festivals, aquatics training, and many other opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Regional Parks' mission is to create healthy communities and contribute to the economic vitality of Sonoma County by acquiring, developing, managing and maintaining parks and trails county-wide. Regional Parks preserves irreplaceable natural and cultural resources, and offers opportunities for recreation and education to enhance the quality of life and well-being of residents and visitors to Sonoma County.

- 140 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding
- 268 campsites on the Sonoma Coast and in the heart of Wine Country
- The public's only lifeguarded swimming beach on the Russian River

Redwood Regional Challenge/Sonoma County Trails Challenge
The Redwood Regional Challenge, started as a joint program by the Redwood Empire Council BSA and the Sonoma County Regional Parks District in 2012, continues today renamed as the Sonoma County Trails Challenge. More information can be found here.
