Good Turn For America
Recently, the Boy Scouts of America introduced the Good Turn for America, a year-round initiative that addresses hunger, inadequate housing, and health issues in our nation. The BSA has joined with respected national organizations, such as the following, to provide opportunity for youth and volunteers to make a difference in their communities.
- The Salvation Army - Scouting for Food
- Habitat for Humanity - Scouting for Shelter
- The American Red Cross - Scouting for a Healthy Living
The Redwood Empire Council continues our commitment to service in local communities. Scouting for Food, the Council Good Turn collects food for the Salvation Army and FISH.
Units are encouraged to join in the New Good Turn by having members collect aluminum cans and other items for recycling. Funds generated through unit recycling campaigns will be used to purchase rain ponchos, cases of macaroni and cheese, and cases of tuna which would most help poor families cope with the months of cold and inclement weather.
