Council Volunteer Recognition Dinner

Mark Abel and Leon Anderson to receive 2020 Silver Beaver Award

As part of the council recognition dinner each year, the council is able to present two Silver Beaver awards to registered adult volunteers for distinguished service to youth over an extended period of time.  At the 2020 council recognition dinner on February 8, we will honor Mark Abel and Leon Anderson:

Mark Abel

Mark, an Eagle Scout, currently is Scoutmaster of Troop 58 Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church in Pomo District. He has served as a troop committee chair and merit badge counselor.  Mark has served a National Jamboree contingent Scoutmaster and similar roles at two World Jamborees, as well as our council International Representative, district nominating committee chair, council membership chair, and Order of the Arrow Lodge Associate Lodge Adviser.

Leon Anderson

Leon, an Eagle Scout, currently is Scoutmaster of Troop 88 LDS Willits Ward Parents in Yokayo-Logger District.  He has previously served as a chartered organization representative, troop committee chair, merit badge counselor, and previous term as Scoutmaster.  Leon has been a council, district, and unit volunteer for more than 44 years on many Redwood Empire Council activities (including council camporees, district and council merit badge days, summer camp staff volunteer, etc.).

Also to be honored at the dinner are our newest Eagle Scouts (class of 2019) and recipients of the Dick Hacke Camping Award, the Commitment to Scouting Award, and the REC-BSA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sign up online - yourself, your family, and your friends - to attend the 2020 council recognition dinner.  Be sure to register by January 31, as the late fee will kick in on February 1.
