Scouting at Home - New BSA webpages with resources during 2020 Coronavirus Outbreak

The Boy Scouts of America created a special set of resources for Scouting youth, families, and adult volunteers for "Scouting at Home" which is a continuation of Scouting program for those who are at home and unable to participate in traditional in-person activities.

This special set of resources is best accessed using this link

Scouting at Home - Resources for Scouts and FamiliesExternal Link

This includes links to various online articles regarding our Scouting community response to the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and ways to continue participating during the time that our nation and its citizens and residents are doing everything we can to stay safe and help reduce the spread of contagion.

For specific resources regarding Advancement and badge activities, you may also see our council webpage for Advancement/Recognition for links to various resources.  Note that many links are to resources in other councils.

Digital/online opportunities for Scouting at Home

For Scouts BSA members, our REC-BSA district/council merit badge teams will be organizing several Merit Badge Workshops suited for completing a majority of requirements for specific merit badges in which Scouts may meet with each other and approved Merit Badge Counselors through videoconference.  Links to each such Workshop will be on the REC-BSA website calendar.  Although each Scout needs to register in advance through the website (assisted by parents as needed), all such programs and technology is supported by Friends of Scouting donations, and there will not be any fees to register ("free registration").

A list prepared by National BSA of merit badges suitable for Scouts to work on while at home can be found at this Bryan on Scouting blog webpage:

Redwood Empire Council encourages units to honor Cub Scout and Scouts BSA participation in other councils' digital/online advancement workshops.  The council expects all units to honor PDF copies of Merit Badge Counselor applications ("blue cards" that may not actually be blue in these instances!)
