Basketry Merit Badge Workshop May 16

Basketry MB

With the current COVID-19 public health crisis, now is a great time for Scouts to work on and earn the Basketry Merit Badge.

Redwood Empire Council will be hosting 2 webinars to help Scouts earn the Basketry Merit Badge.  Scouts will need to attend both sessions and complete the requirements as shown in the Merit Badge worksheet (on resource tab for the Session 1 event page).

Before you start, you will need Scoutmaster approval to work on the Merit Badge, normally accomplished with an approved blue card.  Please fill out the front side of a blue card that is on the event page resource tab.  Please also get an email from your Scoutmaster approving you to work on this merit badge.  Forward both of these to Basketry Merit Badge Counselor (Ann Bruner-Welch ann.brunerwelch@gmail.com) by the start of the first session (always copy e-mail your parent & Scoutmaster on communications with any MB Counselor)

Please also download the requirements and the worksheets for this merit badge.  You will need to submit your documents/worksheets and submit them to Ann at the appropriate time in the workshop.

 Scouts should have ready:

  • Merit Badge Application “Blue Card”, with your Scoutmaster approval.
  • Basket kits (can be found from BSA National Supply (https://www.scoutshop.org/nsearch/?q=basketryExternal Link), or another online vendor of your choice)
    • Round Basket
    • Square Basket
    • Stool Seat

Spots are limited, register today.  Once you are registered online with REC-BSA and your blue-card information is sent into Mrs. Bruner-Welch, you will be emailed the login information for the Zoom session.
