Jamboree Registration Open! - July 9-24 2013
Jamboree LogoThe Redwood Empire is taking applications for the Council Troop headed to the 2013 National Jamboree. The Council has planned 5 days exploring the East Coast including the Statue of Liberty, Gettysburg and Washington DC before joining the Jamboree at the new Summit Bechtel Reserve!

Comissioners College - Febuary 25th

The Northern California Commissioner College is coming on February 25th in Hercules (about as close as it will get physically to REC).  There is just one week to sign up for the best training that you can get, plus hear Speakers from Dallas what is up in Scouting.  Tico Perez, National Scout Commissioner will talk about the role of Commissioner's to the health of our Scouting units and what is new in the program.

Larry Pritchard, the Director of the 2013 Jamboree will tell us about the The Summit Bechtel Scout Reservation, the brand new site for the 2013 Jamboree and permanent high adventure base for Scouting.

Camp Masonite/Navarro Work Day - April 13th-15th

All Scouts, Scouters, Troops, Packs and Crews are invited to join the Order of the Arrow. Orca Lodge at a Camp Masonite Navarro Work Day April 13-15 for a work day to prepare the camp for the Summer camping season. See the Event Flyer for more details.


Redwood Regional Challenge - April 21st - 22nd

In place of the Camporee this year, the Pomo District is hosting the Redwood Regional Challenge! Packs, Troops and Crews are encouraged to participate in service projects preparing the Sonoma County Regional Parks for a new progressive events program. See the Flyer for more details.

Each unit who wishes to participate in this event is encouraged to send two people to receive the information and be part of this meeting. If your unit is not yet signed up, you may do it here. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and give service to our fellow park goers through this fun event!

New Tour Permit with new requirement
Effective January 1, 2009, at least one adult must have completed Planning and Preparing for Hazardous Weather training (click link to go to online training) in order to get a tour permit/and there is a new version of the tour permit to be used.  Please update your records as many of the old tour permits are being sent to the office, and they will be returned to you.
Good Turn for America
In 2004, BSA introduced Good Turn for America, a year-round initiative that addresses hunger, inadequate housing, and health issues in our nation.  The BSA has joined with respected national organizations, such as the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and American Red Cross, to provide opportunity for youth and volunteers to make a difference in their community.  For more information, go to the Good Turn for America Web site or our Web page.
